If Stockport MBC would make safe the 18 town centre car parks then there would be no need for all the illegal pavement parking in Portwood, Stockport, the illegal pavement parking capital of the UK. Oh, by the way, the photo above is of a little known unofficial car park. Trouble is it's on a six house residential cul-de-sac called Tamworth Street. Report it to the police? Report it to the council? Way ahead of you, they've known about it for months, but as usual it's a case of collective apathy.

This man is the council-tax payer funded incompetant responsible for this sad and sorry state of affairs. Click on photo for the identity of the non-entity. Laughingly titled Executive Councillor for, wait for it, Transport. What a joke.

There is only one safe car park in the town centre, New Bridge Lane, and the council can't even spell that correctly, pictured right. All eight car park direction signs spell it as one word, Newbridge. And that's not all, the car park is sited on the medieval thoroughfare of historic Millgate. It's pathetic.

There is a car park on Werneth Street, Portwood with 12 spaces and is FREE. So why do the residents have to endure this kind of vehicle anti-social behaviour on their 6 house cul-de-sac?

The reason for these Stockport MBC supported illegal activities i.e. illegal pavement parking? Stockport MBC will not spend money on bringing 17 car parks into a secure enviroment for the council-tax payers, the very people who afford them their luxury and extortianate expense allowences, the consequences being that the police will not pass them as safe. Ironic really seeing as the police aid and abet illegal pavement parking which happens as a result of Stockport MBC not upgrading the safety of car parks with outlandish price charging. Visit the Scroll of Shame to see who in authority are aiding and abetting criminal acivity within Stockport MBC and the police.

But the Lib-Dem council will think nothing of spending £1.7m on tax payer funded vehicles for their so-called 'top-brass' employees. That is another matter which will be tackled on another website soon.

The largest car park in the town centre is Merseyway. This is situated around the main shopping area above Chestergate and even with all the people traffic at this location the police still deem it as an unsafe car park to visit. It boasts 835 spaces with a paltry 31 spaces for the disabled, a paultry 3.72% of availabele space. An utter disgrace in the 21st Century.

... and as Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council spell it. What a bunch of clowns, the trouble is, it's not funny. It shows the whole world what kind of Authority is running this medieval town, not to mention the police farce.

This is because they are fearful of a backlash from the illegal pavement parkers and pavement obstructors who have turned this area into their own fiefdom. The police have not enforced illegal activity on these streets for so long that the perpetrators think the streets belong to them. They are afraid of parking tickets at dawn.

It's come to something when the great British 'bobby' will not tackle a bunch of weedy commuters who have turned Portwood into one giant free illegal car park. Strange how they allow mums with pushchairs and invalid motorised scooter users to walk/ride into the road so they can pass these illegal parkers, yet would not hesitate in spending valuable time moralising people who drop the odd fag-end.  

This situation has come about because the council will not make safe seventeen town centre car parks that the police have deemed are not safe and will not issue the the necessary instructions to the nation wide body Park Mark who monitor the safety of council run car parks.
